FIX CITATIONS

Local Citation Cleanup Guide

A practical cleanup process for inaccurate NAP data, old locations, duplicate profiles, and inconsistent business listings.

Fix the source-of-truth first

Do not begin cleanup until the business has approved its current canonical name, address, phone, website, hours, and location details. Otherwise, different team members may “correct” listings in conflicting directions.

Triage the footprint

Correct important listings first, then duplicates and old locations, followed by lower-priority directories. Keep screenshots, ticket IDs, and notes when a platform requires support intervention.

Cleanup is not the same as building

A service that submits new citations may not manage the business’s whole historical listing footprint. Check each provider’s current scope before assuming corrections or ongoing synchronization are included.
